ething moving. Bryant Collins first thought, according to WXIA, was “what the hell is going on? A baby?” It was, in fact, a baby that had crawled out of the woods, 300 yards from home. The baby crawled almost to Highway 72 in Georgia.
Collins stopped his car as soon as he saw the infant. He got out of the car, picked up the infant and called 911. When the little girl cried, Collins reportedly played gospel music from his phone to calm her down. He stayed with her for two hours. He told the station he never would have been able to save the child’s life if he hadn’t saved his own years before. “I did ten years in the federal institution for manufacturing cocaine,” Collins told WXIA.
“When I was in prison, I made a very conscientious effort to change, and I did.” Incredibly, the child wasn’t seriously hurt. Madison County sheriff Kip Thomas said it was “almost a miracle that a 15-month-old can go that far from her house, into the woods, fall down an embankment, wind up near a major highway, and really not get hurt that bad.” Authorities reportedly arrested the baby’s father, Timothy Pickens, and may arrest the mother as well.
